The Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, which tells the story of a teenager who commits suicide, is causing concern among parents, psychologists and academic staff.

In the show, a student, named Hannah, suffers bullying in high school and decides to commit suicide, leaving several tapes in which she narrates the reasons that led her to take her life.

Although the program has received critical acclaim, parents and experts point out that it glorifies suicide and might encourage some young people to attempt the act.

Social organizations, psychologists and schools are warning that the series may trigger suicidal thoughts, and some institutions have asked parents to be alert, especially those with children with mental health problems.

On the other hand, a representative of Netflix defended the series, noting that it opens a conversation about the topic.
