  • The MIT announced the creation of The Engine, a new kind of enterprise designed to support startup companies working on scientific and technological innovation. The Engine will be a separate entity with headquarters a few blocks from the campus and it will offer tough-tech innovators a distinctive package of “patient capital,” affordable local space, access to highly specialized equipment, streamlined legal and business services, and technical expertise, from prototype to scale-up.

  • Pearson announced a collaboration with Microsoft to explore the power of mixed reality to solve real challenges in areas of learning. Coursera’s New Monthly Subscriptions Could Monetize Procrastination


  • Coursera has launched a monthly subscription payment option in the hope that learners on its platform can be enticed into ongoing educational activity, rather than a more piecemeal pay-per-course-bundle option. The new payment model applies to users enrolling in any of the platform’s Specializations. ‘Binge learners’ might be able to power through an entire Specialization in less time than they otherwise might and pay a reduced fee for the entire course bundle.
