Everyone is talking about automation and the future of the workforce. Some are worried that robots will take their jobs. However, others are preparing themselves to create those machines. Udacity offers a robotics nanodegree program with hiring partners such as Uber, iRobot or Bosch, and now it boosts its learning experience with a powerful ally: Nvidia.

Nvidia Deep Learning Institute offers training for developers, data scientists and researchers to solve Artificial Intelligence problems. It has partners like Coursera, IBM and Hewlett-Packard. Moreover, it aids educators with free online resources for deep learning, accelerated computing and robotics. Now it complements Udacity’s nanodegree robotics program with its hardware used in drones, robots and autonomous vehicles.


Nvidia Deep Learning Robotics project

Udacity programs started as massive online courses (MOOCs), but they transformed into specialized nanodegree certifications. They promise hands-on experience and, in some cases, hiring opportunities with big companies such as IBM, AT&T, Mercedes Benz or BMW. One of its latest courses is a promising robotics software engineering program in collaboration with Nvidia.

This robotics nanodegree covers topics like Robot Operating System (ROS), Kinematics and Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM). It is designed to give students the skills necessary to become software engineers able to apply artificial intelligence and to create robotics projects.

Nvidia’s blog states that this course will give students the knowledge to get their autonomous machines to interpret the world around them, make decisions and plan next steps. Here is a glance at Udacity’s nanodegree robotics program:
