Experts in the Department of Educational Innovation and Digital Learning at Tecnológico de Monterrey won first place in one of the categories of the “Latin American Award for Innovation in Higher Education 2021” and recognition for contributing finalist and shortlisted proposals.

Last October, the “Latin American Meeting on Innovation in Higher Education” convened, a scenario to recognize and raise awareness of the innovative initiatives, experiences, and projects developed by the Latin American academic community. Main topics included new learning dynamics; creation, transmission, and use of scientific and technological knowledge among the different social actors; implementation of innovative teaching practices; use of information and communication technologies (ICT), and creation of flexible physical environments.

This meeting was organized by the Universidad del Rosario (the University of the Rosary in Colombia), a pioneering institution in open science, a benchmark for academic innovation in the region, and recognized for its sustainable campus. The university is accredited by the European Quality Assurance Agency (EQAA), an international organization that guarantees quality in higher education.

About the award

The “Latin American Award for Innovation in Higher Education 2021” ceremony was held during the meeting. The Universidad del Rosario grants the award with the support of the Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, UNICEF, Ibero-American Consortium for Education in Science and Technology (ISTEC), and the Teacher Training and Pedagogical Innovation group of the University of Barcelona (FODIP).

This award recognizes proposals that promote innovative learning dynamics and aim to improve access and quality of education and reduce student dropout rates based on the study of current and emerging educational trends.
