The Observatory is always in a constant transformation and learning process. Today we start a new phase.

The Observatory is evolving. Seven years ago, we created The Observatory of Educational Innovation, intending to keep Tecnológico de Monterrey community informed about the current status of education in Mexico and the world. We soon realized that our work of content curing, research and analysis was valuable. So, we decided to offer our publications to the entire educational community nationally and internationally. Back then, we only had the “Weekly Report,” the “Edu Trends” report, and a few hundred followers on social media; however, our community of readers and followers has grown with us over time. Today we are a community of more than 755,000 people worldwide.

Those who have followed us from the beginning will have noticed that in The Observatory, we are not afraid of changes. On the contrary, we are continuously transforming and learning. We were pioneers in sending newsletters before they became fashionable. We also dabbled in webinars long before they boomed. We ventured to create a website from scratch, a journey in which we have had many stumbles but also many learnings. Today, we are about to begin yet another transformation.

A few days ago, we released a new logo and a new image. You will now be able to see these changes on our website, on social media, in the weekly newsletter, and in all of our publications. There are still some last touches on our logo and image that we will present to you in the coming weeks. As of July 2021, we evolved to become The Observatory of the Institute for the Future of Education.

Perhaps some of you may be wondering about the Institute for the Future of Education? I will explain it.

A few months ago, during the 7th International Conference on Educational Innovation (CIIE) in December 2020, Tec de Monterrey launched the Institute for the Future of Education (IFE) with the dream of creating the future of education to improve the lives of millions of people. Since its foundation, Tec de Monterrey has been an institution with an innovative spirit, hence creating an institute dedicated to promoting educational innovation. “We have been engaging in educational innovation for a long time, but now we want to do it with greater impact, as we also strengthen education research,” said David Garza, President of Tec de Monterrey, at the launch event.

The purpose of the Institute for the Future of Education is “To generate, transfer and disseminate applicable knowledge on educational innovation in an experimental, interdisciplinary, open, and world-class way, connecting, inspiring, and accompanying those who seek disruptive solutions for the future of higher education and lifelong learning.” The IFE will promote initiatives already undertaken by Tec de Monterrey to support its positioning in the global arena. Among these is The Observatory, which is now part of this new institute. In addition, some of the existing initiatives that the IFE will promote are the Tec21 Model, research, experimentation and transfer of educational innovation, open innovation, and the International Conference on Educational Innovation, among others.

In the coming weeks, we will provide you with more details about these changes. We hope that you will accompany us in this new transformation process that we are initiating. We are very excited to be part of this great project, and we look forward, as always, to your support and feedback.
