Tec de Monterrey won bronze in The Learning Awards 2026 for its digital education strategy, which integrates technology in a planned and systematic way to drive transformation in teaching practice and the student experience.

Tec received this distinction after presenting its Digital Education Strategy to a jury in November 2025. This presentation showed the results of the institution’s 2022 project to transform the integration of its digital education and deploy it through its high school, professional, and graduate educational models.

“This award recognizes organizations, not only educational institutions, but also companies that provide education either internally or externally, that is, educational resources. It recognizes organizations that can produce clear evidence of innovation, impact, and contribution inside or outside their institution,” said Maribell Reyes, Director of Digital Education at Tec de Monterrey.

Tec developed “a holistic and inclusive approach that integrates technology in a planned way into educational models – always as a means, not as an end – to enrich teaching practice and the student experience,” said Beatriz Palacios, Director of Educational Innovation and Digital Learning.

The only project from Latin America

Tec de Monterrey competed in the Digital Learning Transformation category, which evaluates the application’s purpose, the evolution of the project, its contribution to digital learning, the challenges overcome, and the technologies utilized.

The achievements that Tec shared were all supported by metrics and tangible evidence. “The jury told us that they liked our approach and our project. Although the project is called a digital education strategy, it aims to promote quality learning and ensure that what we do offers value to students. It safeguards that the student does not have a digital experience to use a technological tool, but that they can learn in a better way,” said Palacios.

Tec de Monterrey was the only Latin American university selected as a finalist in the 30th edition of these education awards. “This award represents what we are at Tecnologico de Monterrey: an institution committed to educational quality, and with the conviction that technology is only a means to achieve excellence,” added Palacios.

The Learning Awards’ 30th edition received more than 800 proposals across 22 categories from 70+ countries.

Tec de Monterrey’s Digital Education Strategy

Unlike other projects focused on technological implementation, Tec’s stood out for its comprehensive strategy, with the quality and value of learning as the central axis of its digital transformation.

This strategy is articulated in four fundamental axes:

  1. The incorporation of digital education into the student’s journey, in a planned way, adding value to their learning and development of skills.
  2. The integration of digital learning experiences that employ innovative techno-pedagogies.
  3. The strengthening of teachers’ digital competencies.
  4. Processes that ensure a successful and quality implementation.

These axes strengthen competencies, connection with the professional environment, accessibility, and personalization of learning at all academic levels.
