The Coding Boot Camp starts in April 2018 in Monterrey; it will last 6 months (part-time) and will be taught in English.
To meet the growing demand for software engineers and developers, Tecnológico de Monterrey and Trilogy Education Services have partnered to launch an immersive programming boot camp in 2018 with a focus on competencies and career change.
As part of the Tec 21 strategy, the institution is exploring learning trends and educational innovation, as well as taking note of the needs of the labor market.
Globally, jobs in the technology sector continue to grow; however, the number of graduates in computer science programs is not up to industry demands. It is estimated that there are about 150,000 jobs in Mexico and 90,000 in Colombia, while in the United States the demand for engineers will grow 20 percent by 2020.
Julien Depauw, leader of boot camps at TecLabs, Tec de Monterrey’s educational and technological experimentation lab, said the program seeks to prepare individuals who want to enter the software industry with high-level training.
“Our goal is to take advantage of Trilogy’s experience and deliver high quality immersive programs as soon as possible. The content of the boot camps is directly related to the needs of the labor market.
“Moreover, during the program students will establish a connection with companies through guest speakers, mentors, networking, etc. The short duration means that there will be individuals ready for work much faster than with a traditional program.”
The Coding Boot Camp starts in April 2018 in Monterrey; it will last 6 months (part-time) and will be taught in English. The quota is 25 students and the requirement is having a basic knowledge of programming.
Depauw stated that the official launching will take place in November at the INCmty festival. He added that in 2019 they plan to offer the program in Mexico City and Guadalajara, and they are working on the creation of a Data Science Boot Camp.
