How can educational institutions monitor their students while they take online exams? ProctorU offers a solution: webcam monitoring with the aid of artificial intelligence (AI).

ProctorU is an online identity management and supervision company that offers remote monitoring. As strange and invasive as it may seem, this platform checks the identity of the students and monitors their movements while they take their exams with the aid of webcams. Students can choose schedules 24 hours a day on an easy-to-use automated platform.

To make their service more effective, ProctorU launched a new version called ProctorU Live+, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to add “a second set of eyes” to track the movements of students to detect suspicious behavior.

A press release states that only in 2018 this platform has monitored a million tests, and presumes excellent reliability.

The University of Mississippi is one of the first universities to adopt the new Live+ platform. In this regard, Catherine Hultman, coordinator of testing services states: “We are extremely happy with our ability to better monitor the test-taking behavior of our students while also improving the test-taker experience.”
