A new global employability ranking reveals which universities the recruiters at top companies think are the best at preparing students for the workplace.

Going to university is not about acquiring knowledge anymore. In recent years, choosing the right college or university has more to do with the student prospects after finishing university and their employability. As a result, many higher education institutions are implementing strategies to better prepare students for the workplace.

A new global employability ranking, designed by HR consultancy Emerging and published by Times Higher Education, reveals which universities the recruiters at top international companies think are the best at preparing students for the workplace.

The Global University Employability Ranking 2017 ranks 150 universities from 33 different countries according to the perceptions of recruiters at top international companies about the employability of their graduates.

The United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, China, and Switzerland are among the best-represented countries in the employability ranking.

The California Institute of Technology (Caltech) is in the first position, followed by Harvard University, Columbia University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the University of Cambridge in the Top 5 higher education institutions for employability.

In Latin America, the best universities producing employable graduates are the University of São Paulo (Brazil) in the 75th position, climbing 9 positions from the 2016 ranking is Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico) in number 101 and in the position number 141 is the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
