Arizona State University—Tempe, a  public research university that was founded in 1885, is the most innovative college in America according to a ranking by U.S. News & World Report.

Arizona State University—Tempe, a  public research university that was founded in 1885, is the most innovative college in America according to a ranking by U.S. News & World Report. The institution has ranked #1 innovative college in America for the third year in a row and #115 in the National Universities ranking 2018

In spring 2017, top college presidents, provosts, and admissions deans were asked to nominate the 10 colleges and universities that are making the most innovative improvements in terms of curriculum, faculty, students, campus life, technology or facilities. 

Followed by Arizona State University—Tempe is Stanford University in the second place, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in third and Georgia State University and Carnegie Mellon University in the fourth and fifth place respectively. 

The Top 10 institutions that received the most nominations for making promising and innovative changes on campus are the following.

  1. Arizona State University-Tempe (#115 in National Universities)
  2. Stanford University (#5 in National Universities)
  3. Massachusetts Institute of Technology  (#5 in National Universities *tie)
  4. Georgia State University (#223 in National Universities)
  5. Carnegie Mellon University (#25 in National Universities)
  6. Northeastern University (#40 in National Universities) 
  7. University of Maryland-Baltimore County (#159 in National Universities)
  8. University of Michigan-Ann Arbor (#28 in National Universities)
  9. Harvard University (#2 in National Universities) 
  10. Duke University (#9 in National Universities) / Portland State University*
