Many universities around the world are taking seriously the educational challenge that automation imposes. MIT or Stanford already have laboratories specialized in artificial intelligence (AI), online platforms like Udacity have launched schools dedicated to teaching AI and technology giants like Google, with its Learn with Google AI website, have free courses on topics such as machine learning.

The University of Waterloo joins this educational initiative with the launch of the Artificial Intelligent Institute. A laboratory supported by companies such as General Motors Canada, Huawei Technologies Co., and Shopify, which aim to prepare Canada for the challenges of automation.

This institute will begin to develop research in areas such as statistical learning, deep learning, game theory and data science, to offer scalable solutions in applications for the health sector, environmental protection, urban planning, manufacturing, autonomous systems and human-machine interaction .

On the other hand, government authorities hope that the development of technology research and development in artificial intelligence will attract talent and foreign investment to Canada.

The development of artificial intelligence research centers in Latin American universities can significantly support the countries of the area adapt effectively to the technological changes that are coming.
