The universities ranking season is not over. Times Higher Education has released its ranking of the institutions with the best reputation in 2018. The United States once again captured the spotlight, Asia continued to lag behind, and Latin America did not reach the first hundred positions.
The ten universities with the best reputation in 2018
- Harvard University – United States
- Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) – United States
- Stanford University – United States
- University of Cambridge – United Kingdom
- University of Oxford – United Kingdom
- University of California at Berkeley – United States
- Princeton University – United States
- Yale University – United States
- University of California at Los Angeles – United States
- University of Chicago – United States
To determine this classification, distinguished scholars from different nationalities answered a survey; all of them listed the 15 universities they considered the best in research and teaching practices.
It is worth noting that universities from Asia still do not get the global recognition that they may deserve; Most of the votes they received were from academics from the same continent. Unlike the American or European universities that raised their score thanks to the preference of scholars from around the world.
Except for the University of California at Los Angeles, which didn’t occupy a top ten place since 2014, the names of the most accredited institutions remain the same: Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Cambridge, and Oxford.
